EMU STAYS HOME FOR IN-STATE BATTLE WITH CMU: The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will be home for the second straight game, this time against the Chippewas of Central Michigan University in a Mid-American Conference West Division game Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center. The Eagles are coming off a 60-51 home loss to MAC West leader Ball State Wednesday, Jan. 19.
CMU, is 2-2 in MAC play and 5-12 overall after a 66-64 win over NIU, Jan. 20.

EMU VS. CMU: EMU and CMU have the longest rivalrey in Eastern history with Central holding a 93-86 advantage in the series that began in the 1905-06 season. CMU won both games last year, including a 56-55 decision in the last regular-season game of 2009-10.

LOOKING AHEAD: After Sunday's, Jan. 23 CMU game, the Eagles are scheduled to travel to Athens, Ohio Wednesday, Jan. 26, for a 7 p.m. contest against the Ohio University Bobcats, the Eagles' first battle with a Mid-American Confernece East Division team this season.

SEASON'S LOW: When the Eagles were held to just 48 points in a 65-48 setback at Western Michigan Sunday, Jan. 16, it marked the lowest offensive point total of the season for EMU. The previous low-offensive effort this season was 49 points in a 54-49 loss to North Dakota at the Basketball Travelers Tournament in Idaho.

CONVO MARKS TIED: Several EMU Convocation Center records were tied during the Eagles' battle with Northern Illinois Tuesday, Jan. 11. EMU sophomore guard Derek Thompson (Detroit, Mich.-Melvindale-SEMO) tied the arena record for three-point field goals with eight. That mark tied EMU's EMU's Ricky Cottrill (12-1-01 vs. Tennessee Tech) and Marshall's Ronald Blackshear (3-3-03 against EMU). The Eagles made14-of-32 triples, tying their own record of 14 threes, set in that same Tennessee Tech contest in 2001.

POINT A MINUTE: EMU sophomore guard Derek Thompson (Detroit, Mich.-Melvindale-SEMO) set a career best with 31 points against Northern Illinois, Jan. 11, and he did it in 31 minutes of action.

BLOCK PARTY: Sophomore big man Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid) had five blocks against Northern Illinois, Jan. 11, his second-best career effort. His top shot-blocking effort is seven, Nov. 17, 2010, at home against Madonna.
