THE TEAMS: EMU enters the WMU game with a 4-11 overall record and a 1-1 Mid-American Conference mark after dropping a 71-69 home-court decision to Northern Illinois, Jan. 11.
Western Michigan is 8-7 overall and 1-1 in the MAC after a 72-63 loss at Ball State, Jan. 12.

LOOKING AHEAD: After Sunday's, Jan. 16, WMU game, the Eagles return home to the Convocation Center for a Wednesday, Jan. 19, home date with Ball State at 7 p.m.

CONVO MARKS TIED: Several EMU Convocation Center records were tied during the Eagles' battle with Northern Illinois Tuesday, Jan. 11. EMU sophomore guard Derek Thompson (Detroit, Mich.-Melvindale-SEMO) tied the arena record for three-point field goals with eight. That mark tied EMU's EMU's Ricky Cottrill (12-1-01 vs. Tennessee Tech) and Marshall's Ronald Blackshear (3-3-03 against EMU). The Eagles made14-of-32 triples, tying their own record of 14 threes, set in that same Tennessee Tech contest in 2001.

POINT A MINUTE: EMU sophomore guard Derek Thompson (Detroit, Mich.-Melvindale-SEMO) set a career-best with 31 points against Northern Illinois, Jan. 11, and he did it in 31 minutes of action.

BLOCK PARTY: Sophomore big man Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid) had five blocks against Northern Illinois, Jan. 11, his second-best career effort. His top shot-blocking effort is seven, Nov. 17, 2010, at home against Madonna.

OPPOSITE EFFORTS: EMU saw its last two bench efforts go from very good to bad. All 11 EMU players that saw action at Toledo Saturday, Jan. 8, hit the scoring column, the first time all season that everyone in the lineup scored. The bench also came through with 26 points. The next game, Jan. 11, versus NIU, EMU had just five points from the subs.
