The team closed the invite by winning two of three doubles matches

Williamsburg, Va. (EMUEagles.com) – The final day of the William and Mary Invitational saw the Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team win two of its three doubles matches, as the teams of Miriam Westerink and Nino Mebuke, and Xu Chang and Mariya Toncheva each claimed victories.

In the Flight A matchup, Westerink and Mebuke were able to upend the Harvard duo of Natalie Blosser and Hannah Morrill to score an 8-4 win. In the Flight B match, Xu and Toncheva defeated Virginia's Marjorie Baker and Maria Fuccillo, 8-3.

Marcela Rivero and Celine Donnet fell, 8-2, in their Flight B contest.

“We got off to a good start this weekend,” said EMU Head Coach Ryan Ray. “I'm especially encouraged with our doubles play. We need to continue to build and improve each day from here, and see what we can achieve.”
