DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) —
The Eastern Michigan University football team was picked to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference West Division determined by 26 members of the league's media contingent. The annual preseason poll was released Friday, July 30, at the conference's 2010 football media day held at Ford Field.

The Eagles received 20 votes in the annual poll with Northern Illinois selected first in the West Division with 115 points followed by Central Michigan (83), Western Michigan (77), Toledo (75), Ball State (50) and EMU (20).

Temple was chosen to win the East Division title with 137 points while Ohio was a close second at 116. Kent State was chosen third in the East with 94 points followed in order by Bowling Green (74), Miami (53), Buffalo (48) and Akron (38).

A total of three teams received votes for winning the annual Marathon MAC Football Championship Game between the winners of the West and East Divisions. Temple led the way with 11 votes with Northern Illinois gaining five votes and Ohio receiving a vote.

Eastern Michigan opens fall training camp Sunday, Aug. 8, when both freshmen and upperclassmen report. The annual EMU Photo/Media Day is set for Sunday, Aug. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Rynearson Stadium.

The Eagles are set to open the 2010 season at home in Rynearson Stadium Saturday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. against non-conference foe Army.
