Brent wins award after posting the region's 14th-best time this year in the 3k steeplechase

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Senior David Brent was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the Mid-American Conference offices announced late Thursday.

Brent shattered the previous top-time in the MAC this season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the senior completed the race in 8:50.04, more than 12 seconds faster than the next best time in the conference. Brent finished second in the 30-man field, less than two seconds behind the winner from the event's host school, Ohio State, en route to posting the 14th-fastest regional mark and the 29th-fastest time in the nation this year.

Brent and the Eagles will wrap up their regular with an appearance at the Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. on May 7-8. The following weekend, EMU will compete in Buffalo, N.Y. for another opportunity at a MAC Championship.
