Miami remains perfect in the MAC with 6-1 win over Eastern
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team was unable to become the first Mid-American Conference opponent to put a mark in the loss column for visiting Miami University, Friday, April 23, as Eastern fell 6-1 to the visiting RedHawks.
EMU (7-13, 1-6 MAC) had the lead and the momentum in two of the three doubles matches, but was unable to keep that edge and ultimately lost all three doubles matches to Miami (17-7, 7-0 MAC).
"Losing the doubles point was frustrating," said EMU Head Coach Ryan Ray. "We had a 7-4 lead at No. 1 and a match point at No. 2. This could have changed some momentum early for us. However, there is a reason Miami is No. 1 in the conference. They know how to win. We need a win tomorrow against Ball State going into the tournament."
The lone win of the day came at the No. 2 singles match when Miriam Westerink came back from one set down to defeat Miami's Stephanie Danesis.
The Eagles will have a short turnaround as the team will face Ball State University in Ypsilanti on Saturday, April 24. The match is slated to begin at 1
