Two Eagles earned wins in the 5-2 loss

BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team was unsuccessful on the road, Friday, April 2, as it dropped a Mid-American Conference match to the Bulls of the University at Buffalo, 5-2.

Miriam Westerink and Georgia de'Lisle-Tarr shined for the Eagles (6-9, 0-2 MAC), as each scored wins in singles competition. Westerink downed Buffalo's Diana Popescu in three sets—6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (5)—while de'Lisle-Tarr posted a come-from-behind three-set win after dropping the first set, 2-6.

Eastern struggled in its doubles matches, dropping two of three contests.

"Our effort was decent today," said EMU Head Coach Ryan Ray. "We put ourselves in a position to win the match by forcing four three-set matches. It's a lot to ask for to win them all, but we made Buffalo work for the win today."

The Eagles will have a quick chance at redemption as the team travels to Ohio to face the University of Akron, Saturday, April 3, at 1 p.m.
