YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – On a sunny, yet windy day, the Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team posted a 4-3, come-from-behind win over the Bowling Green State University at the outdoor courts of the Chippewa Racquet Club, Saturday, April 10, in Ypsilanti, Mich. The win moved the Eagles to 7-11 on the season, and also gave the team its first Mid-American Conference win of the season. Bowling Green dropped to 11-7 on the season (1-4 MAC).

After narrowly losing the doubles point to the Falcons and missing out on another point with Julia Breuss retiring due to injury, Eastern responded, rallying to win four of the last five singles matches.

Marcela Rivero, Celine Donnet, Xu Chang, and Miriam Westerink earned singles points for EMU.

“We needed this win today,” said Head Coach Ryan Ray. “We really had to dig in during the singles to make up for the doubles loss. Being able to regroup our minds for the 10 minutes between when doubles ended and when singles started really helped us focus and get the win.”

Ray said that despite Eastern's 1-4 conference record, he feels confident that the team is in a good position heading into the final stretch of the season.

“It's all very even in the league right now,” he said. “If we get ourselves ready to play each week we can beat anybody in the league. There's a lot of parody in the MAC right now.”

The Eagles have one more road match left this season—Saturday, April 17, at Toledo—before returning back to home for the final two matches of the regular season on April 23 and 24.
