Tennis falls to Big Ten opponent

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)–Less than 24 hours after a hard-fought victory over Duquesne University at home, the Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a closely contested, 4-3, decision to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.

After dropping all three doubles contests, the Eagles were still in good position to escape with the win following singles wins by standout freshman Julia Breuss and sophomore Miriam Westerink.

But MSU was able to take control by winning next three matches to secure the win. Marcela Rivero closed out the match with a 7-5, 6-4 win over MSU's Christine Milliken.

“This was a disappointing loss,” said EMU Head Coach #Ryan Ray. “There was a lot of good to take home from this match, however, we knew we would have opportunities to win this match and didn't quite get it accomplished. The effort was quite good; we just need to polish up a few things in practice.”
