Women's Tennis Remains Perfect at Home, Blanks Oakland

The Eagles put together a strong outing to win 7-0

—Including singles and doubles, the Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team played nine total matches against Oakland University this afternoon, March 24, at the Chippewa Racquet Club in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The Eagles were undefeated in those nine matches en route to a 7-0 victory over the Grizzlies in an outdoor match which was just added to the schedule last week.
Eastern dominated the courts from start to finish, holding the Grizzles without a point in eight of the 15 sets played. Overall, it was the team's most dominant outing of the season, as the the Eagles pushed its record to 6-7, including a perfect 4-0 at home.
All eight Eagles saw action today as teams of Julia Breuss and Miriam Westerink, Xu Chang and Georgia de'Lisle-Tarr, and Marcela Rivero and Celine Donnet paired up in doubles play to take down the three doubles teams of OU. Rumbidzai Muskwe earned her first singles victory of the season, 6-0, 6-0, in straight sets over Oakland's Alex Reed.
"We did a good job of working on many things we need to do to improve for the upcoming conference season," said EMU Head Coach Ryan Ray. "I think the doubles play was very good today and we will look on moving forward to the conference season now."
The Eagles will be in action again Saturday, March 27, when it opens Mid-American Conference play on the road against Northern Illinois University.
