Chaffins Picks Up Weekly MAC Honor

Corey Chaffins named the MAC West Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – For the second time this season and the fourth time in his career, Eastern Michigan University junior pitcher Corey Chaffins (New London, Ohio-New London) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week. The league office made the announcement today, March 16.

Chaffins (2-0) was stellar on the mound for the Eagles versus Jacksonville State University, March 12, earning his second victory of the season after going six and two-thirds innings and giving up five runs on six hits on 125 pitches, while tying a season-high in strikeouts with eight, to help the Eagles claim a 10-8 win.

The EMU baseball team is back in action tomorrow, March 17, when it hosts the Michigan State University Spartans at 5 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium.
