ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
— In its final tune-up meet before the Mid-American Conference Championship, the Eastern Michigan University women's track team earned victories in the long jump and the 400-meter dash, Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Silverston Invitational at the University of Michigan.

Sophomore Rosie White (New Albany, Ohio-New Albany) leaped 18-09.25 feet, her second longest long jump of the season, for a win in the event. She beat second place by nearly half of a foot. The other Eagle winner was freshman Asia Rawls (Waterford, Mich-Mott). Rawls ran a season-best 56.45 to capture the 400-meter dash.

Teammate Dejaa Shearer (Canton, Ohio-Glen Oak) captured second-place in the event, finishing in 57.54. Other second-place finishes for the Eagles included Jessica Novakowski (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Western) in the pole vault and Angela Scarber (Waterford, Mich.-Kettering) in the shot put. Scarber's throw of 47-06.25 feet was the second-best throw in EMU history, only one inch short of tying the school record.

The Eagles will return to action on Feb. 26-27 in the MAC Championship at host site Central Michigan University.
