Eagles Fall Short to No. 48 Nebraska

EMU unable to up-end Big 12's top-ranked, undefeated Cornhuskers
LINCOLN, Neb. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team was unable to win a match as it lost 7-0 to the top-rated, undefeated Big 12 leader in the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-4 on the season Nebraska moves to 10-0.
Marcela Rivero (Santa Cruz, Bolivia-Saint George) was the only Eagle to win a set on the day when she took the second set of her match against Nebraska's Janine Weinreich.
"Nebraska is a great team," said Head Coach Ryan Ray. "We needed a better performance to play with them today, and we just didn't get it. Hopefully we are healthier next week, and can get in a solid week of practice before going to California."
Due to weather related travel concerns, Northern Iowa could not travel to Lincoln, therefore the Sunday, Feb. 21, match against EMU has been canceled. The Eagles will head to California for a trio of matches against No. 42 San Diego State, No. 50 Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount, Mar. 2, 4 and 5, respectively.
