Eagles and Rockets Meet for the Second Time This Season

STRONG START: EMU's 13-12 record this season is the best since the 1999-2000 squad went 13-12 in its first 25 games.

CHECKING THE SERIES WITH TOLEDO: The Eagles and Rockets will be meeting for the 85th time and Toledo holds a 45-39 advantage in the series that dates all the way back to the 1917-18 season. The two teams split last year's games, with Toledo notching a 69-57 win, Jan. 17, 2009, in Toledo and Eastern coming back to record a 58-49 win, Feb. 25, 2009, in Ypsilanti. EMU won this year's first meeting, 74-59, Jan. 13, 2010, at home in the Convocation Center.
Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey's Eagles enter Wednesday's, Feb. 17, game at Toledo with a 13-12 overall record and a 5-7MAC mark after a 66-52 win at home over Western Michigan, Feb. 14.
Head Coach Gene Cross' Toledo team is 3-23 overall and 0-12 in MAC play after losing a 63-46 decision on the road, Feb. 14, at Central Michigan University.

ONE TELEVISION GAME LEFT: The Eagles have one televised game left on the regular-season schedule. The Thursday, March 4, home game against Central Michigan, will be televised live on FoxSports Detroit. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

BRACKET BUSTER TRIP TO DETROIT: EMU has drawn the University of Detroit for its Bracket Buster game, Feb. 20. The Eagles will travel to Detroit to meet the Titans in a 3:35 p.m. tilt. U-D holds a 59-18 advantage in the series and the Titans won a 62-47 decision in the last outing, Nov. 22, 2008. Detroit has won the last seven straight with the last EMU win an 82-80 home victory, Dec. 30, 1999. EMU is currently 13-12 overall on the season while the Eagles are 5-7 in Mid-American Conference action. Eastern plays at Toledo Wednesday, Feb. 17. U-D is 15-12 overall and 7-8 in Horizon League action and the Titans play at Wright State Wednesday, Feb. 17, before hosting the Eagles, Feb. 20.

EAGLES MOVE INTO TIE FOR THIRD IN MAC WEST DIVISION: With Sunday's, Feb. 14, 66-52 win over Western Michigan University, EMU moved into a tie for third in the Mid-American Conference West Division with the Broncos. Both EMU and WMU are 13-12 overall and 5-7 in league play. Ball State and Central Michigan are tied for first in the West with 7-5 records, with Eastern and Western at 5-7, Northern Illinois 4-8 and Toledo 0-12. EMU has four MAC games left, Feb. 17 at Toledo, Feb. 24 at Ball State, Feb. 27 at home against Northern Illinois and March 4 at home versus Central.

BOWDRY EARNS THIRD MAC AWARD OF THE SEASON: EMU redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) was named the Mid-American Conference men's basketball West Division Player of the Week for the week ending with Sunday's, Feb. 14th games. He also won the honor Nov. 16 and Dec. 7. He turned in two great statistics' lines for two games played last week. At Buffalo, Feb. 10, Bowdry scored 26 points with eight rebounds while playing just 24 minutes because of foul troubles in an 84-67 loss to the Bulls. He came back with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-52 win over Western Michigan, Feb. 14. For the two-game stretch, Bowdry made 18-of-23 field goals (78.3 percent), 1-of-2 three-point shots (50.0 percent), 7-of-8 three throws (87.5 percent) while hauling down 20 rebounds, scoring 44 points, dishing three assists and recording two steals.

20th DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR BOWDRY: Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) turned in the 20th double-double of his career and the 13th this season with an 18-point, 12-rebound performance in a 66-52 win over a visiting Western Michigan University team, Feb. 14.

MEDLOCK MAKES IT 24: EMU senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) turned in the 24th 20+ scoring game of his career with a game-high 31 points in a 70-61 win over Ohio, Feb. 6. Medlock had five 20-point efforts as a freshman and sophomore, eight as a junior and six this season.

BIG THREE LEAD WIN OVER BOBCATS: Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) and Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) combined for 60 points and 29 rebounds in a 70-61 win over Ohio, Feb. 6.

SWEET VALENTINES' DAY: EMU had four starters turn in double-figure scoring efforts in the Eagles' 66-52 win over Western Michigan, Feb. 14. Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) paced the Eagles with 18 points and 12 rebounds with Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) scoring 17 points with eight rebounds, Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) adding 14 points and six assists and junior-college transfer Jay Higgins (Fayetteville, N.C.-IMG Academy-Hillsborough J.C.) chipping in 12.
