Women's Track Wraps Up Day One of GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Junior Lauren Quaintance (Walled Lake, Mich.-Western) finished sixth in the 600-meter run in 1:36.13 to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's track team here in the first day of the Grand Valley State University Big Meet, Friday, Feb. 12. The majority of events will be competed Saturday, Feb. 13.
Courtney Calka (Livonia, Mich.) was sixth in the mile in 4:54.98 while teammate Morgan Churchwell (Ada, Mich.) was 15th in 5:03.42.
Other EMU place finishers were Naomi Andre (Naples, Fla.) with a ninth in the 200 meters in 24.86, Ashley Wartley (Ypsilanti, Mich.) was 13th in the 200 meters in 25.15, and Dejaa Shearer (Canton, Mich.) was 14th in the 400 meters in 57.94.
The EMU women will compete in the second day of the Grand Valley meet as well as the University of Akron Invitational Saturday.
