Game time is set for 2 p.m. in the Koessler Athletic Center. EMU started the season with a 96-66 loss at No. 2 ranked Michigan State, Nov. 12, and evened its record at 1-1 with a 79-70 win over Madonna.
Canisius is 1-1 on the year, beating St. Bonaventure, 80-70, Nov. 12, and then dropping an 86-67 decision at Syracuse, Nov. 14.
BOWDRY WINS MAC AWARD AFTER CAREER-BEST EFFORT: EMU senior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor, Mich.-Truman) turned in a career-best performance Friday, Nov. 12, at Michigan State and he earned the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week Award for his efforts. Bowdry scored a career-high 32 points, connected on a career-best five three-point field goals and tied his career-high with 15 rebounds against the No. 2 ranked team in the nation. His 32-point, 15-rebound double-double against MSU was the 24th of his career.
EMU VS. CANISIUS: EMU and Canisius have played twice in the series with the Eagles capturing both wins at home in the Convocation Center. Eastern recorded an 86-72 victory, Dec. 11, 2004, and followed that up with a 75-58 win, Nov. 30, 2009. In that game last season, the Eagles scored the game's first basket and never trailed on the way to the 17-point win. The victory was the third straight for the Eagles and they improved to 5-2 on the season. The loss broke a three-game Canisius winning streak and left the Griffins at 3-2 on the year.
Junior Jay Higgins (Fayetteville, N.C.-IMG Academy-Hillsborough (Fla.) J.C.) led the Eagles, with 25 points while redshirt junior Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) HARRIS WORKS BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT: Sophomore Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid) worked both ends of the court to produce big numbers in EMU's 2010-11 home opener against Madonna University. Harris turned in the first double-double of his career with 15 points and 13 rebounds. The 6-foot-9 Harris also set a Convocation Center record for single-game blocks with seven, breaking the mark of six held by three opposing players, Marshall's LaVar Carter (11-30-04), IPFW's Davis Simon (2-6-05) and Northern Illinois player James Hughes (10-9-07). The seven blocks also ties the EMU record for the second-most single-game blocks with Brian Nolan, versus Stetson(12-9-89) and two by Theron Wilson, vs. Toledo (2-13-93) and Kent State (1-20-93).

A 6-foot-3 guard from Detroit, Mich., Thompson had been awaiting a hardship waiver for the last few weeks while practicing with the Eagles.

Thompson led his team in scoring with 27.3 points per game, while averaging 7.9 rebounds and 9.5 assists as a senior.
During the 2009-10 season, Thompson played in 29 games, starting four times, for the SEMO RedHawks. He was fifth on the team in scoring, at 8.4 points per game, and was second in three pointers made with 47. When EMU squared off against SEMO, Nov. 24, 2009 in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Thompson scored 15 points off the bench.
