, OhioThe Eastern Michigan University baseball team fell just short Saturday afternoon, May 9, against Mid-American Conference West Division leader University of Toledo, as the Rockets edged the Eagles, 6-5, at Scott Park Field.

 

The loss puts the Eagles at 19-32 (10-13 MAC), while the Rockets improve to 21-24 (14-9 MAC) with the win.

 

Junior Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored in the loss. Sophomore Zack Leonard (Canton, Ohio-McKinley) also collected a pair of hits for the Eagles.

 

After belting a pair of homers yesterday, junior Jim Gulliver (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) followed it up with another one today, as he finished 1-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI for the Eagles.

 

With a 3-3 tie midway through the contest, the Rockets tallied one run on an EMU error in the sixth and a pair of runs on an RBI double by Krofcheck and an RBI single by Hoying to pull away and hand the Eagles the loss.

 

Tomorrow's rubber match is set for 1 p.m. at Scott Park Field.
