LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team concluded day one of action at the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional Friday, May 29, at the University of Louisville's Cardinal Park. Of the three student-athletes competing for the Eagles, two saw action on day one.
Sophomore Beverly Elcock (Ft. Wayne, Ind.-Northrop) had the highest finish for the Eagles on her way to running a career-best time in the 800 meters. Her time of 2:09.04 just missed the qualifying mark for the finals, placing 11th. Junior Jessica Novakowski (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Western) cleared the opening height in the pole vault, 12-00.00, but was unable to go any farther, finishing 27th.
Tomorrow, the Eagles will see Jasmine Gates (Virginia Beach, Va.-Tallwood) in action, competing in the high jump at 1 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
