Big Day Prep Showdown Returns to Rynearson Stadium

Fifth-year event will have eight games in two days in EMU football facility
YPSILANTI, Mich — The Detroit Metro Sports Commission (DMSC) has announced the game match-ups for the Big Day Prep Showdown (BDPS) V to be held Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium.
Since 2005, the Big Day Prep Showdown has been the premier opening-weekend high school football event in the state of Michigan. A two-day showcase of high school football on the field, the event will also include BDPS V Game Week events including a V.I.P. preview event for coaches, players and sponsors, and team visits to Beaumont Hospitals' pediatric patients.
The BDPS, developed and organized by the DMSC, will kick off at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, with the Macomb County pairing of Madison Heights Lamphere vs. Warren Fitzgerald. A pair of cross-state games follow with Detroit Martin Luther King vs. Muskegon at 5 p.m., and Hudsonville taking on Lake Orion at 8 p.m.
Saturday's match-ups begin with Adrian vs. Monroe at 11 a.m., followed by Belleville vs. Saline at 2 p.m. The evening games will feature Ann Arbor Huron vs. Chelsea at 5 p.m., followed by Ann Arbor Pioneer vs. Inkster in the 8 p.m. night-cap.
“Our goal for the Big Day Prep Showdown has always been to showcase exciting Michigan high school football, and celebrate the school communities in a bowl game-like atmosphere,” said Dave Beachnau, DMSC executive director. “We are proud of the success of the event and believe that the 5th Big Day Prep Showdown will be a great two days of high school football for fans.”
Advance tickets are $7 students and $9 for adults and are available at the participating schools, or by calling 313-202-1982. All tickets are $10 at the gate on the day of the event. Children age five and under are free. All tickets provide admission for all games.
