Kevin Sikora Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

Junior pitcher wins first career conference accolade.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan University junior pitcher Kevin Sikora (Youngstown, Ohio-Boardman) has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Thursday, April 2. This marks Sikora's first conference honor.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
Sikora, a 3.11 GPA in management, led the Eagles to a 3-1 victory over the University of Michigan on March 24, going six and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on seven hits, while fanning four Wolverines to pick up the victory in his first start of the season.
The EMU baseball team is back at home this weekend when they host the University of Akron, April 3-5, at Oestrike Stadium. Friday's game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday are slated for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.
