YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team honored a quartet of seniors Wednesday night, March 4, at the Convocation Center, sending them off in style, picking up a 75-61 victory over Mid-American Conference West Division rival Northern Illinois University. With the win, the Eagles not only picked up their third consecutive victory, but avenged a loss earlier in the season to Northern Illinois.

Seniors Kyle Dodd (Rockwood, Ont.-John F. Ross Collegiate), Wendale Farrow (Sacramento, Calif-Mira Loma-American Fiver J.C.), Zane Gay (Olivet, Mich.-Olivet) and Tyler Jones (Belleville, Mich.-Belleville) were recognized in a ceremony prior to the final home game of their collegiate careers.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 7-23 overall and 5-10 in MAC play while the Huskies fall to 10-18 and 5-10, respectively. The Eagles shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the field, including 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from behind the arc, compared to 35.1 percent (20-of-57) and 23.8 percent (5-of-21) for the Huskies.

Junior center Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) led three Eagles into double figures, as he put up 20 to go along with five rebounds. Redshirt sophomore forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) recorded a double-double with 19 points while grabbing a game-high 12 boards. Freshman guard Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Dearborn Heights Robichaud) added 11 and five off the glass.

Two players hit double-figures for the Huskies, led by Darion “Jake” Anderson, who put up a game-high 24 points, while Mike Dinunno added 12.

The Eagles and Huskies traded baskets for the first few minutes of the game.  NIU tied the contest at five before a shot from behind the arc by Jones  would spark a 12-0 run by the Eagles, eating over five minutes of game time. The Huskies would end the Eagles' run on a shot by Sean Smith to make it 17-7 with 11:19 remaining in the half.

Eastern would take its largest lead of the half with :04 remaining on a three by Bowdry, giving the Eagles a 38-23 advantage heading into intermission. The Eagles used a balanced scoring effort, as seven of the nine players who played in the first half would score a basket. Dobbins and Bowdry led all EMU scorers with eight points each at the half. For the visiting Huskies, Dinunno, Anderson and Michael Fakuade had five points each.

Coming out from the break, the Eagles would continue top dominate with its fast-paced offense.  Dobbins would hit a jumper in the early seconds of the second frame to set the scoring pace for the Eagles. NIU would come with 14 with 16:06 remaining in the game, but the Eagles would have no part of it, continuing to distance themselves from the visitors.

Eastern would take its largest lead of the game, 27, with 3:14 remaining, on a three by Bowdry. Despite a late attempt by the Huskies to come back, the Eagles held on for the 14-point victory.
