YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics is teaming up with the university's Colleges Against Cancer organization in an effort to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer through the Women's Basketball Coaches Association 'Pink Zone' program.

The EMU Women's Basketball team is one of over 1,250 teams across the country participating in the 'Pink Zone' program, which benefits the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer FundTM. Kay Yow is the former head women's basketball coach at North Carolina State University, who passed away Jan. 24 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

The event will take place during the EMU Basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Convocation Center. The EMU women will play host to Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. and the EMU men will host Georgia State at 4 p.m. Only one ticket is needed for admission to both games.
In addition to the team wearing pink jerseys, the first 1,500 fans through the door will receive a pink t-shirt. EMU Athletics will also be donating $1 to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer FundTM for each ticket purchased using the designated 'Pink Zone' flier; all ticket purchased with the Pink Zone flier will receive the discounted ticket price of just $3. In addition, donation tables will also be stationed throughout the Convocation Center during both games.
