RAMSEY BACK IN ACTION: EMU Head Men's Basketball Coach Charles E. Ramsey returned to the sideline for Tuesday's, Feb. 3, home game against the Akron Zips. Ramsey had missed the previous three EMU games while suffering from a benign case of vertigo. Ramsey is slated to be back on the sideline for the Eagles' road trip to Ohio Saturday, Feb. 7. Associate Head Coach Derrick McDowell served as the interim head coach in Ramsey's absence.

EMU DRAWS GEORGIA STATE FOR BRACKETBUSTER GAME: The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will host Georgia State University in the seventh annual ESPNU BracketBuster Saturday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. The game will be part of a doubleheader in the Convocation Center with the EMU women's team hosting Northern Illinois University at 2 p.m. The Panthers of Georgia State are a member of the Colonial Athletic Association and are currently 6-16 overall and 4-7 in the CAA. The EMU-GSU matchup will be the first men's basketball game between the schools. EMU is 1-1 all-time versus the Richmond, Va. based conference. EMU defeated Old Dominion, 79-78, in the first round of the Carrier Classic in Syracuse, N.Y., Dec. 13, 1996. The then-Hurons fell to UNC Wilmington, 68-64, in the opening round contest of the Indiana Classic, Dec. 11, 1982, in EMU's only other meeting with a CAA member.

THIRD OHIO TRIP: The Eagles are hoping to have better luck in the state of Ohio when they square off against the Ohio University Bobcats Saturday, Feb. 7. Eastern has been to the Buckeye State twice this season, dropping games at Toledo, 69-57, Jan. 17, and at Kent State, 68-46, Jan. 27.

NEXT UP: After Saturday's, Feb. 7, game at Ohio, the Eagles will be idle until Thursday, Feb. 12, when they host Mid-American Conference East Division leader Buffalo in a 7 p.m. contest in the Convocation Center. The Eagles will then play a rare Sunday night game, Feb. 15, when they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio for a 7 p.m. tip against the Falcons of BGSU.

FOR THE 112th TIME: The 2008-09 season is the 112th of intercollegiate basketball for the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. Eastern played its first season in 1897-98 and split games with Detroit, losing a 2-0 decision before coming back for a 4-0 victory. The 2008-09 season will also be the 35th for the Eagles in the Mid-American Conference. The first year of MAC play for EMU was 1974-75 when the then-Hurons went 12-14 overall and 4-9 in the league. EMU has won three Mid-American Conference titles: 1987-88, 1990-91, and 1995-96, and the Green and White captured MAC Tournament crowns in all three of those years in addition to winning the tournament title in 1997-98.

EMU AND OHIO: EMU enters Saturday's, Feb. 7, game at Ohio with a 3-19 overall record and a 1-7 Mid-American mark. The Eagles lost their sixth straight game when they fell, 78-41, to a visiting Akron team Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the Convocation Center. Ohio enters this weekend's contest with an 11-10 overall record and a 4-4 MAC mark. The Bobcats recorded an 89-59 win over a visiting Northern Illinois University team Thursday, Feb. 5.

THE SERIES: EMU and Ohio will be meeting for the 63rd time in history when the two teams square off Saturday, Feb. 7, in Athens, Ohio. Ohio holds a 41-21 edge in the series. EMU won last year's battle, 63-56, in Ypsilanti. The Bobcats had won the previous three games before that Eastern victory. Dobbins has played in 78 games, starting 63 times, and his 673 points is 62nd in EMU history. He is currently 48th in rebounding at 346.

BOWDRY MOVES UP: Despite playing in just 54 games in his career, redshirt sophomore Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.)
