Eagles lose second-straight match
YPSILANTI, Mich.-The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 match to the No. 54 Marshall University Thundering Herd Saturday afternoon, Feb. 28, at the Chippewa Racquet Club. The Eagles are now 3-9 on the season, while Marshall improves to 6-5.
"Marshall is one of the best teams on our schedule,” said head coach Ryan Ray. “I thought at times we hung with them on certain courts, but they were just better than us today. We now have a long layoff to refresh and focus on the conference season ahead of us, after now completing a very difficult non-conference schedule.”
The Eagles were unable to find a groove in both singles and doubles matches, falling behind early after the doubles matches. With the 1-0 lead heading into singles, Marshall was able to sweep the Eagles in all six singles matches.
The Eagles will take three weeks to regroup and refocus before entering Mid-American Conference season play March 20 against the University at Buffalo. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
