DOBBINS SIDELINED: EMU senior center Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) will be sidelined for several weeks with a hairline fracture of his lower left leg. Dobbins was hurt on the Eagles' trip to Missouri and played several games before it was determined he would have to sit out to heal properly. Dobbins has played in seven games this year, all as a starter, and is averaging 10.1 points and 3.6 rebounds a game.
STRONG START: EMU's 6-3 record this season is the best start since the 2004-05 squad went 8-3 in its first 11 games.
THREE IN DOUBLES: The Eagles had three players in double figures in a 75-64 win over a visiting James Madison University team Saturday, Dec. 12, night at home in the Convocation Center. Redshirt junior Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) turned in his fifth double-double of the season and 12th of his career with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) added 20 points and eight assists and sophomore guard Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Dearborn Heights Robichaud) contributed 15 points.
CHECKING THE SERIES WITH GEORGIA STATE: EMU and Georgia State will be meeting for the second time when the two square off Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Georgia State Sports Arena (3,400) in Atlanta, Ga. EMU-and Georgia State played last year in a Bracketbusters game, Feb. 21, in Ypsilanti and the visitors recorded a 63-58 victory. Georgia State is currently 5-6 after dropping a 62-55 decision at Florida State, Dec. 15.
SAMFORD AT HOME, DEC. 22: After Saturday's, Dec. 19, game at Georgia State, Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey's Eagles will turn right around and host Samford University Tuesday, Dec. 22, in a 7 p.m. game in the Convocation Center. That contest will be EMU's final one before an eight-game holiday break.
