Several swimmers pace the Eagles to their second MAC win of the season

AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team moved to 3-2 overall and pushed its Mid-American Conference record to 2-2 with a 158-142 win over Akron Saturday, Nov. 7 at Ocasek Natatorium.

 

Sheila Carson had one of her best meets of the year with two wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Chelsea Allard and Amanda Kiefer finished right behind Carson with second and third place finishes, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke.

 

Sarah Kowalski turned in two wins in a pair of freestyle events, touching the wall in 24.02 in the 50 free and 51.88 in the 100 free. Briana Emig took home a win in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle. She also placed second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.18.

 

In the one meter dive, Danielle Hulvey placed first with Lesley Vizurraga coming in two places behind her. Vizurraga also placed second in the three-meter dive, the best Eagle finish in the event.

 

Samantha Nameth and Elisa Torres were first and second, respectively, in the 100 butterfly. Nameth finished with a time of 57.97.

 

The Eagles will return home to host Purdue in a two-day dual meet at Jones Natatorium Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13-14.
