Eagles Fall to IPFW at Home

EMU travels to Pittsburgh this weekend
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team played close in every set tonight at the Convocation Center, but the Mastodons from IPFW managed to escape Ypsilanti with a 3-0 victory.
The loss puts the Eagles at 5-6 this season, while the Mastodons move to 3-7 with the win.
The team will head to Pittsburgh, Pa. this weekend for the University of Pittsburgh Tournament. EMU will open up on Friday against Virginia Commonwealth University at 10:30 a.m. and Pitt at 7:30 p.m. before facing Gonzaga University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The teams battled point-for-point in the first set, but the Mastodons managed to pull away at the end with a kill from Rebekah Roehm to claim a 26-24 win. The Mastodons would take the final two sets to claim the victory.
Sophomore Jennifer Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) tallied a team-best .500 hit percentage in the game, while junior Victoria Randolph (Cincinnati, Ohio-Mount Notre Dame) notched a team-high 11 kills in the game.
Senior and Reigning Mid-American Conference West Volleyball Player of the Week Jill Wolosiansky (Uniontown, Ohio-Green) notched a team-high 11 digs, while freshman Ashley Mason (Eastlake, Ohio-Lake Catholic) hit .375 on the night.
