Box score.
STATESBORO, Ga. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team hit .307 and recorded eight blocks en route to a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-16, 25-14) victory over UNC Wilmington Friday afternoon at the Bash in the Boro inside Georgia Southern University’s Hanner Fieldhouse.
The victory is the third consecutive for the Eagles, who move to 4-5 this season. On the other side of the equation, the Seahawks fall to 5-3 with the loss.
Senior Hayolla Leite (Paraiba, Brazil-Indian Hills CC), junior Victoria Randolph (Cincinnati, Ohio-Mount Notre Dame) and sophomore Jennifer Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) each posted eight kills in the victory as eight of the 10 Eagles tallied at least one putaway.
EMU’s .307 hitting percentage is the second-best ratio this season, only eclipsed by a .315 attack percentage earlier this week in a sweep of Wright State, Sept. 9, at the EMU Convocation Center. Meanwhile, the Seahwaks’ .019 percentage was the lowest of any EMU opponent in nine matches this season.
Paula McConnell’s six kills paced the UNCW offense, while Rachael Caricato chipped in five kills.
Eastern Michigan University closes out tournament play Saturday, Sept. 13, with a noon contest against host Georgia Southern.
