Cam Burke Tied For First at Canadian Amateur

Marty Jeppesen and Brandon Lemons also make cut at GAM Championship
YPSILANTI, Mich. — As the summer winds down, members of the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team continue their strong off-season play. Six golfers have been action recently, with junior-to-be Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) currently leading the Canadian Amateur after two rounds at the Paradise Golf Resort in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Burke is tied atop the leaderboard after shooting a four-under 138 (70-68) during the first two days of competition. The Canadian Amateur is set for two more rounds, with the final round taking place Thursday, August 14. Junior-to-be Chris Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) is only two strokes behind his EMU teammate, firing a two-round score of 140 (72-68) and former golfer Graham Hill (Brights Grove, Ontario-Northern Collegiate (Indiana (Pa.)) sits in 18th with a 142 (72-70).
Three EMU golfers were also in action at the GAM (Golf Association of Michigan) Championship (Aug. 11-12) at Orchard Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake, Mich. Junior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) was the best EMU finisher, placing eighth with a three-round score of 220 (71-76-73). Junior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) placed 29th with a three-round total of 223 (76-73-71). Sophomore Nic Carbury (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) just missed the cut for the final round, firing a two-round score of 150 (72-78).
