Dan Puls Signs MLB Free Agent Contract with the Chicago White Sox

CHICAGO, Ill.Recent Eastern Michigan University baseball player Dan Puls (Alpena, Mich.-Alpena) signed a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox organization of the Major League Baseball (MLB) on June 20. Puhs, who graduated from EMU in April, is the first EMU player to be picked up by a MLB team this season. Puls is currently pitching for the Bristol White Sox of the Rookie Appalachian League in Bristol, Va.

Puls made his professional debut July 1 against the Pulaski Mariners, an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners organization. In 2.0 innings of work, allowed one earned run on three hits, striking out two batters.

Puls, a 2008 Mid-American Conference Academic All-MAC selection, tallied a 4-4 record with a 5.52 ERA during the 2008 season. In 31 appearances as a middle-relief pitcher, he notched 44.0 innings of work, striking out 33 batters on the year. During the MAC Tournament, he made two appearances, allowing just two hits against no runs in 5.1 innings of work, striking out six and picking up two saves along the way.
