CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Kyle Rhoad (Fostoria, Ohio-Elmwood) was named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 27. This marks Rhoad’s first career scholar athlete award.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week’s competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.

Rhoad, who holds a 3.90 GPA in  supply chain management, had a sensational weekend series against Northern Illinois University. In game one he posted a 3-for-4 day at the plate, scoring three runs with a walk and a double. In game two he went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and three stolen bases. Overall for the week, he was 4-for-4 in stolen bases and carried a perfect fielding percentage. EMU leads the MAC West Division with an 11-4 mark in MAC play.
