Eagles Fall to RedHawks, 5-2

YPSILANTI, Mich.- Despite a comeback attempt by senior Tina Bestehorn at the third singles, the Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 Mid-American Conference decision against the visiting Miami University RedHawks, today at the Chippewa Racquet Club.

The Eagles fall to 6-12 overall and 2-3 in MAC action while the RedHawks remain perfect in MAC play at 5 and 11-5 overall.

In singles, Vanessa Frankowski and Aleksandra Stankovic both defeated their respective Miami opponents to give the Eagles two points. Frankowski, at the top flight, defeated Anastasia Dracheva in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4, handing Dracheva her first loss of the season. Stankovic easily defeated Sydnee Bridger in two sets, losing just one game (6-1, 6-0).

The Eagles will return to action Friday, April 11, as they travel to DeKalb, Ill., to take on the Northern Illinois University Huskies. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
