The 54-hole tournament will tee off with two rounds on Saturday, April 19, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., before concluding on Sunday with a single round at 8:30 a.m. The 12-team field includes some of the top teams from the Big Ten Conference, including Ohio State, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin, along with squads from Nebraska, Kent State and Toledo. The format gives the teams an opportunity to place six players in their lineups, while still counting the top four scores for each round. The Eagles will carry plenty of momentum with them to Ohio. The Eagles improved to 44-13 in four spring tournaments. Also, the squad’s four tournament wins overall are the most in a school year.
Stephany Fleet Selected MAC Women’s Golfer of the Week: Eastern Michigan University junior golfer Stephany Fleet was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for the period ending April 8. This marks the fifth time in her career and the second time this year she has collected the weekly award. Additionally, her first-place finish is her fourth top five finish of the year and the ninth of her stellar career.
EMU Dominant in Record-Breaking Win: The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team not only made history at the EKU Spring Invitational Saturday afternoon, April 5, but it did so in resounding fashion by blowing away the rest of the seven-team field in the process. Eastern Michigan continued its outstanding campaign by dominating the field here at the par-72, 5,817-yard course Arlington Golf Club with a 20-shot victory - its record-setting fourth overall title during the 2007-08 season. The Eagles improved to 44-13 in four spring tournaments. The four tournament wins overall are the most in a school year. Second-place Winthrop finished with a 626, while Tennessee Tech (633) placed third followed by Eastern Kentucky (636), Evansville (636), USC Upstate (644) and Ohio (651).
