Lose second straight match
COLUMBUS, Ohio-- The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 45 Ohio State, today here, at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center. The Eagles are now 4-7 on the season while the Buckeyes are 10-2.
"This was a disappointing performance," said head coach Ryan Ray. "We struggled with the transition back indoors after spending the last week outside. We made too many unforced errors, which you can not afford against a great team like Ohio State, and they took full advantage of it."
The Eagles were unable to find their groove, as they dropped all six singles matches and three doubles matches in straight sets. The No. 1 doubles team of Vanessa Frankowski and Tina Bestehorn dropped an 8-6 decision to Angela DiPastina and Christina Keesey. Frankowski and Bestehorn were the only two Eagles to win games in doubles as the second and third doubles both lost by a score of 8-0.
In singles, Frankowski picked up the most games, winning seven, but was unable to defeat DiPastina.
After a seven match road trip, the Eagles return home to take on the University of Cincinnati, Feb. 8. Match time at the Chippewa Club is set for 1 p.m.
