Men's Golf Looks Sharp in Round One at the Linger Longer

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf squad shot a 289 Friday afternoon, March 14, here at the Linger Longer Invitational and is in sixth place following first-round action at Reynolds Landing Golf Course.
Senior Graham Hill paced the Eagles by firing an opening-round, three-under 69 and is tied for seventh heading into tomorrow’s second round. Hill notched six birdies on the front-nine en route to finishing with a team-best seven birdies. Sophomore Brandon Lemons was not far behind with a one-under par 71, good for a 16th place tie.
Junior Chris Ross shot a 74 to finish the day tied for 32nd. Sophomore Marty Jeppesen and redshirt freshman Brad Larente rounded out the line up with a pair of 75s.
No. 26 Ole Miss is the first-round leader at the 14-team event after shooting an 11-under 277 and are one stroke ahead of second-place No. 24 Tennessee-Chattanooga.

UTC’s J.T. Clendenin garnered a six-under 66 taking the individual lead after day one. UGA’s Russell Henry, David Marino of Ole Miss and Kennesaw State’s Oliver West find themselves one shot back and in a tie for second position.
Second-round action will take place on Saturday, March 15, at Reynolds Landing. The first tee time is slated for 9 a.m.
