YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan University head football coach Jeff Genyk is excited about the future with the latest group of recruits that have signed the National Letter of Intent for 2008.

Genyk, entering his fifth year as the head coach of the Eagles, expects the 2008 season to be a breakthrough year for his squad and the 2008 recruits will fill in a few gaps left through graduation losses.

"Our recruiting classes have improved each year and I think this current group will have a major impact on the success of our football program," Genyk said. "This recruiting class as a whole has a lot of size, is very athletic and is near a 3.0 cumulative GPA. We have good size on the offensive and defensive lines and our skill players have outstanding speed. Overall, this should be a very special class."

Four of the incoming recruits, junior college tight end Kyle Pollock (Grover Beach, Calif.-Arroyo Grande-Allan Hancock J.C.), linebacker Steve Brown (Palmyra, Va.-St. Anne’s Belfield-Fork Union Military Academy), along with defensive linemen Ryan Kuhlman (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) and Javon Reese (Ft. Wayne, Ind.-Southside) are all currently enrolled and will be eligible for 2008 spring practice which starts in March.

There are seven players in the recruiting class from Ohio, six from Michigan, three from Indiana, two each from California and Canada, and one apiece from Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, and Maryland.
