FULLERTON, Cal.- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team rolled to a 6-1 non-conference victory over host Cal State Fullerton Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Titan Courts.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-5, while the Titans lose their eighth straight and fall to 1-8.
"We had a solid effort today," said head coach Ryan Ray "Some of the ladies did a good job of adjusting their games to the windy conditions to be successful. We'll rest up for a day tomorrow and look for a solid effort against a good Loyola Marymount program on Thursday."
The Eagles got right out of the blocks, sweeping the doubles points. Vanessa Frankowski and Tina Bestehorn teamed up at the top flight, winning by an 8-3 score. The other duo, newcomers Aleksandra Stankovic and Sandra Wikstrom, took down the opposition by an 8-4 score.
In singles play, EMU won five out of six flights, with only one victory being forced to three sets. Frankowski, at the No. 1 slot, lost just three games in the win. At the third spot, Wikstrom battled back from a first-set loss to win by a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, for her first singles win of the season.
