EMU wins five events at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio- After picking up a win to start the season yesterday at Bowling Green, the Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team dropped a 162-126 decision at the University of Toledo, Saturday, Nov. 1. The Eagles are now 1-1 on the young season, sporting the same Mid-American Conference mark.
The Eagles won five events on the afternoon, led by senior Alissa Ricard (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills), who won both the 100 and 200 free races. Freshman Sarah Maraskine (Midland, Mich.-Dow) picked up her first collegiate win, hitting the wall first in the 100 back, while Elisa Torres (Antioch, Calif.-Deer Valley) captured the 200 fly. Sarah Kowalski (Muncie, Ind.-Yorktown) won the 50 free, just out-touching the Toledo runner-up.
EMU is back in action Friday, Nov. 7 when Buffalo comes to town for a co-ed meet at Jones Natatorium. The teams hit the water at 5 p.m.
