Women's Cross Country Improves One Spot From 2007 to Finish 10th

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team improved one spot from 2007 to finish 10th at the 2008 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday, Nov. 1, here at Eagle Crest Golf Course.
Miami University won the women's title, amassing 39 point for the clear win, as the University of Akron finished second with 81 points, followed by Ohio, Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Toledo, Buffalo, Kent State, Western Michigan, EMU, Ball State and Northern Illinois.
The Eagles were paced by freshman Natalie Webb (Allen Park, Mich.-Woodhaven). She had a personal-best run of 18:05.3 to finish 25th. Senior Melissa Green (Brecksville, Ohio-Brecksville Broadview Heights) was the second Green and White Runner across the line, finishing with a time of 18:21.9, placing 39th.
Freshman Rachel Hollinger-Janzen (Goshen, Ind.-Goshen) was the third EMU finisher across the line, finishing 47th with a time of 18:25.9. Beverly Elcock (Ft. Wayne, Ind.-Northrop) and junior Jackie Ellis (Lebanon, Ohio-Hope College) rounded out the top five for the Eagles, as Elcock finished 55th with a time of 18:40.0, while Ellis was 72nd, running 19:09.2.
The Eagles had four more runners across the line in Amber Hutson (Jerome, Mich./Hanover Horton), Lauren Quaintance (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern), Justine Baese (Elsie, Mich.-Ovid Elsie) and Megan Flewelling (Grand Blanc, Mich./Powers Catholic).
The Eagles will return to action in two weeks as they will trek to West Lafayette, Ind., for the 2008 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship, Nov. 15.
