Webb Leads Eagles at NCAA Regional

Eagles finish 23rd out of 34 teams.
YPSILANTI, Mich.-Freshman Natalie Webb (Allen Park, Mich.-Woodhaven) ran a career-best time of 22:46.0 for the women's 6K at the 2008 NCAA Great Lakes Regional in West Lafayette, Ind. Saturday, Nov. 15. Her 67th place finish paced the Eagles to a 23rd out of 34 teams. The University of Michigan and Wisconsin claimed the two automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, as they finished first and second, respectively.
Senior Melissa Green (Brecksville, Ohio-Broadview Heights) clocked in with a time of 23:13.7 to finish 98th as the second EMU runner across the finish line. Sophomore Beverly Elcock (Ft. Wayne, Ind.-Northrop) was next, finishing 131st on her way to running 23:45.0. Freshman Rachel Hollinger-Janzen (Goshen, Ind.-Goshen) crossed the line with a time of 24:03.2, good for 148th. The final EMU runner to finish was freshman Amber Hutson (Jerome, Mich.-Hanover Horton), who ran 24:33.0 to finish 170th.
The Eagles will now await word from the NCAA to see if they can earn an at large bid, either as a team or a specific individual, to the NCAA Championship Monday, Nov. 24, at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.
