Volleyball Falls to Central Michigan, 3-1

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team fell to in-state rival Central Michigan University, 3-1 (25-27,21-25,17-25, 20-25), in Mid-American Conference play Thursday evening here at Rose Arena. Junior Victoria Randolph (Cincinnati, Ohio-Mount Notre Dame) notched her 11th double-double of the season in the setback, tallying 11 kills and10 digs in the setback.
With the loss the Eagles fall to 8-12 on the year and 2-3 in conference play. On the flip side, the Chippewas improve to 4-1 in MAC action and 10-7 overall.
Besides Randolph’s double-double, senior outside hitter Jill Wolosiansky (Uniontown, Ohio-Green) turned in 10 kills, three digs and a block assist on the night. Sophomore Jennifer Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) finished with eight kills, while senior Hayvolla Leite (Paraiba, Brazil-Indian Hills CC) posted seven put-a-ways.
For CMU the trio of Kaitlyn Schultz, Sarah Warner and Whitney Evers combined for 36 of the team’s 55 kills, as each recorded 12 kills in the victory. Kaitlyn Hurt finished with nine kills while Lauren Krupsky added eight.
Eastern Michigan returns to action Saturday, Oct. 11, in Athens, Ohio versus the Ohio University Bobcats. First serve in the cross-divisional tilt is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
