Pilchard Named MAC Co-Swimmer of the Week

Senior wins the award for fourth time in her career
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Senior swimmer Madeleine Pilchard was named Mid-American Conference co-swimmer of the week, the conference office announced today. This marks the fourth time in her career that she has won the weekly award. She shares the award with Megan Reissig of Toledo.
In two meets over the weekend, Pilchard won six events and placed second in another, helping the Eagles go 1-2 on the weekend. EMU beat Big Ten Conference and in-state foe Michigan State (174.5-123.5) in a double dual meet, before falling to Ohio State in the same meet, 195-105. The Green and White dropped a conference decision to Ohio (161-139) the night before.
Against Ohio, the Marietta, Ga. native won the 200 freestyle (1:51.90), the 50 freestyle (23.75) and the 500 freestyle (4:59.89). She was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:51.90) against the Bobcats.
In a meet against Michigan State and Ohio State, Pilchard recorded an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:49.90 in the 200 freestyle. Pilchard also won the 50 freestyle on the evening (23.81) and placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:00.08).
The Eagles are back in action Saturday, Jan. 26, when they play host to Ball State University. It will be Senior Day. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
