EMU falls to 3-2 in MAC action

ATHENS, Ohio— The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team fell to the Ohio University Bobcats, 161-139, today at the Aquatic Center.
ATHENS, Ohio— The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team fell to the Ohio University Bobcats, 161-139, today at the Aquatic Center.
With the loss, the Eagles move to 6-2 on the season and 3-2 in conference action. Ohio improves to 8-1 and 4-1 in MAC action.
Ohio took the first two events, the 400 medley relay and 1,000 freestyle, before senior Madeleine Pilchard won the 200 freestyle. Sheila Carson won the 100 breaststroke, before Pilchard captured her second event of the evening, the 50 freestyle. Ashley Durand and Chantelle Lonsdale took the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke, with Pilchard picking up another win in the 500 freestyle.
Diver Becky Renkola captured both the one and three-meter dives on the day. EMU took four of the top five spots in the 200 IM, with Carson winning her second race of the day. The 200 freestyle relay team of Catherine Lee Ha, Alissa Ricard, Hannah Burandt and Pilchard ended the meet with a victory for EMU.
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 19, when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State University and Michigan State University in a co-ed double dual meet. Action is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
