Group will be launching membership program for former players

YPSILANTI, Mich. Over the past year, a leadership group of former Eastern Michigan University football players have developed plans to launch a significant effort to reconnect all former Eastern football players back to the program.

The E-Gridiron Group (EGG), formed in the spring of 2006, focused its early efforts around building a leadership level of fund-raising support for EMU Football. Over the past year and a half the EGG has contributed more than $350,000 to the program, helping to provide the football program with numerous upgrades and leveling the playing field with the rest of the Mid-American Conference.

"Our first priority was to fix some areas of the program that were sub par from a facility and equipment standpoint," said Brett Petersmark (EMU ’87), President of the E-Gridiron Group and a former All-American football player at EMU. "Under head coach Jeff Genyk’s leadership, we have had some great success in this area. Our focus now will be to reach out to all former EMU football players to give them the recognition they deserve for being part of our football history, and to let them know we want them to join the E-Gridiron Group, and help us build something special here. As a whole, the efforts to keep former football players engaged with the team have been very inconsistent through the years, and the EGG is committed to changing that culture for the long term."

The EGG membership program for this year will be targeted at former football players, but will eventually be expanded to all family and fans of EMU football in future years. Membership, which will be free to football alumni this first year, will include the following benefits:

• One sideline pass for every home game at Rynearson Stadium

• Specially designed E-Gridiron Group Shirt (replica of the same one the EMU Coaches wear on game day)

• Invitation to EGG member-only events throughout the year

• Inside access to EMU Football through special e-mails, conference calls with Coach Genyk, and an exclusive EGG football website at (www.emueaglesfootball.com).

• Invitation to annual EGG golf outing in Florida.

Membership information will be sent to all former EMU Football players prior to the first home game on September 8, 2007 and will also be available online at www.emueaglesfootball.com.
