Stephany Fleet Leads the Way at Wolverine Invitational

Junior fires an even-par 142 for first place after the first day of competition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Eastern Michigan University junior Stephany Fleet (Dewitt, Mich.-Dewitt) fired a tournament low 70 in the second round and leads the field at even-par after 36-holes of the Wolverine Invitational. The Eagles stand alone in sixth place after day one of play on the par 71, 6,098 yard U-M Golf Course, compiling a team score of 612 (305-307) in the 10 team field.

The Eagles stand alone in sixth place after day one of play on the par 71, 6,098 yard U-M Golf Course, compiling a team score of 612 (305-307) in the 10 team field.
Fleet began her day with a pair of birdies on the front nine leaving her at one-under for the tournament. She followed up with a back nine of 37 to complete first round with a 72. She followed it with a second round that featured birdies on the 11th and 17th holes to finish with the tournament’s lowest round of 70. Fleet has a three stroke lead over a trio of golfers at three-over 145.
Senior Catherine Fortin (Beauceville, Canada-Polyvalente St. Francois) is tied for eighth place with a 147 (73-74). Freshman Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) and junior Courtney Aili (Chelsea, Mich.-Chelsea) are tied for 51st with a 164. Senior Paola Sanchez (Bogata, Columbia/Cedar Springs (Mich.)) rounded out the lineup with a 165 (79-86) for 54th place. Competing as an individual, sophomore Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) is tied for 40th with a 160 (80-80).

Competing as an individual, sophomore Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) is tied for 40th with a 160 (80-80).
Michigan resides on top of the leader board after posting a 295 and a 303 to hold a two-stroke lead over Notre Dame (303-297). SMU is eight strokes back of the Irish in third place with a 606 (306-300).
The Green and White conclude the Wolverine Invitational with a final 18 holes Sunday, Sept. 30, with tee times beginning at 9 a.m.
