Catherine Fortin Places Third at Lady Northern

As a team the Eagles tie for seventh place with a 924
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Eastern Michigan University senior Catherine Fortin (Beauceville, Canada-Polyvalente St. Francois) continued her strong play with a third consecutive top-10 showing, turning in a third place finish at the Lady Northern Invitational here at the Penn State Blue Course, Sept. 22-23. Competing against some of the region's best golfers, the Beauceville, Canada native carded a 74 in the final round to finish with a 218 (71-73-74), the fourth lowest 54-hole total in school history.
As a team, the Eagles tied for seventh with a team score of 924 (305-316-303) as Kent State University took home the invitational hardware with an 878 (287-298-293). The Golden Flashes made it a double victory as Kira Meixner captured medalist honors with a four-under 212 (66-73-73).
Junior Stephany Fleet (Dewitt. Mich.-Dewitt) gave the Eagles another player among the top 30, after carding a 76 to finish tied for 29th with a 233 (75-82-76). Junior Courtney Aili (Chelsea, Mich.-Chelsea) followed with a 235 (79-81-75) while senior Paola Sanchez (Bogata, Columbia-Cedar Springs (Mich.)) and and freshman Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) turned in a 242 for 62nd. Redshirt freshman Melissa Spalding (Monore, Mich.-Monroe) rounded out the lineup with a 251 (80-83-88) for 79th place.
The Eagles are next in action Sept. 29-30 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
