Michigan State out-shoots the Eagles 16-3
EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University soccer team lost to the Michigan State Spartans, 2-0 today here at Old College Field. The Eagles managed only three shots in the contest, with one on goal. With the loss, EMU drops to 2-3-1 on the season.
The Eagle offense struggled throughout the game, getting off only one shot in the first half. MSU countered with nine shots in the first half, netting one goal. Lauren Hill scored her fourth goal of the year, with Maureen Pawlak and Lauren Sinacola getting the assist.
In the second half, the Green and White allowed a goal to Pawlak in the 57th minute, with Hill and Sinacola getting the assist. For the game, the Spartans outshot the Eagles, 16 to 3. Spartan goalie Nicole Galas picked up her third shutout of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Manville made five saves, while allowing two goals. Katie Lozar, Lindsay Hill and Maggie Christensen were the only Eagles to record shots in the contest.
The Eagles return to Scicluna Field for the first time since Sept. 4, when they host IUPUI Sunday, Sept. 23. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
