Senior earns second career conference accolade
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior middle blocker Becky Reenders (Grand Haven, Mich.-Grand Haven) was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 16. This marks Reenders’ second career MAC weekly award.
Reenders had a solid weekend, Sept. 14-15, at the University of Albany Classic. The Grand Haven, Mich. native racked up 54 kills, 22 digs, seven total blocks and 61.5 points as the Eagles turned in a 2-2 week with wins over Brown and Northeastern and a loss to Albany in the Albany Classic and a loss to Michigan State during the week.
During the Albany Tournament, Reenders averaged 4.18 kills per game, 1.73 digs per game and a .217 attack percentage. Her best contest came against Brown, when she tallied 21 kills on the afternoon. For her efforts, she was selected to the University of Albany Classic All-Tournament team.
With a difficult non-conference schedule complete, head coach Kim Berrington's squad begins its run towards a MAC West Division title Friday, Sept. 21, when it opens Mid-American Conference play versus Ball State University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
