Three unanswered goals lead to the victory
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team won its second straight game, defeating IPFW, 3-1, Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Hefner Soccer Complex. The Eagles improve to 2-1-0 on the young season.
The Eagles outshot the Mastadons, 20-6, with 11 shots on goal. IPFW managed only one shot on goal.
After giving up the first goal of the game to Danielle Orlandella, the Eagles responded to score three unanswered goals.
Sophomore Katie Lozar netted her first goal of the season off a corner kick from freshman Stephanie Janssens. The Eagles would head to halftime, knotted at 1.
The Green and White would waste no time getting on the board again in the second half, with Maggie Christensen taking a pass from Lozar to score her second goal of the season in the 52nd minute.
Freshman Paige Sheridan would complete the scoring with the first goal of her career off a pass from Ashley Rodrigues.
The Eagles continue their road swing as they head out to California for the weekend. The Green and White will play Friday, Sept. 14 at UC Riverside before playing at UC Irvine Sunday, Sept. 16.
