Men's Golf Posts Record-Setting Round at MAC Championship

WESTERVILLE, Ohio –– The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team posted a record-setting round here Friday afternoon at 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship held at the par-72, 7,216 yard Medallion Club. Four Eagles fired rounds under par, as the Green and White compiled a 14-under par total of 274 (67-67-70-70) to move up to second place behind the University of Akron. Junior Graham Hill, who shot a 67 on the day, is tied atop the leaderboard with Kent State's Peter Ahn with a 54-hole total of 208.
EMU's third round total of 274 shattered the previous school record of 280 that was equaled on three different occasions. The last time Eastern Michigan registered a 280 was also at The Medallion Club when the quartet of Kevin Ackford (66), Korey Mahoney (68), Tyler McDannold (72) and T.J. Shelton (74) did so in the first round of the 2005 MAC Championship, May 5, 2005.
Senior Bryan Haase and sophomore Chris Ross are tied for sixth place with a two-day total of 213 while freshman Cam Burke is tied for ninth place with a one-under 215 (72-76-67). Redshirt Brandon Lemons rounds out the Eastern lineup in 35th place with a total of 225 (74-78-73).
The Akron Zips continue to hold down the team lead with a score of 844 (282-281-281), five strokes in front of the Eagles. Kent State is third with a 854 followed by Ball State (862), Ohio (871), Toledo (884), Bowling Green (886), Miami (887) and Northern Illinois (888).
